Month in Review – May: Endurance Building and Speed Training

month in review, marathon training, training,

The month of May meant endurance and speed training. As I look back, it swung by so fast that it felt like it disappeared in a blink of an eye. But as fast-paced as it came and went, I am glad that the progress that I made was not insignificant – laying down another layer of solid foundation called endurance. And the cool temperature helped in a great deal. Read More…

sunset, 16 miles, training, marathon, marathon training, running, long miles, miles,

This week has been very cooperative in terms of weather. The temperature stayed cool mostly throughout the week. As the days are getting longer, the sun is still up even after my long days at work. So it was nice to have a cooler temperature to run. And because this past weekend was another long run weekend, part of me was a bit anxious about it, so I mostly focused on endurance building throughout the week leading up to it. Read More…

Another week went by, and it marks that the quarter of 20-week training period is now gone. Plenty to talk about. Read More…

Overall, it was consistent with the previous week’s average pace, but I hope to see some improvement in speed in the next couple of weeks. Read More…

Time flies! It really does. The month of April came and went, and it is time to review how it went down in terms of training. The month of April was special in that 5 weeks of the pre-training finally came to an end. As it did, the 20-week training program also began, and what that meant was that the mileage on every other weekend would slowly increase and that it was time to see how well the previous 5 weeks were spent. Back to square one!

cadence, stride frequency, stride length,

Today was the day when I put my cadence to the test! With my Garmin Forerunner 310XT and a foot pod on, I was really anxious about measuring my most accurate cadence to date. Also, I was excited about putting on my new Asics Gel-Kayano 21 and the FootBalance insoles. Read More…

14 miler, Cadence and New Gel Kayano 21

cadence, stride frequency, stride length,

As it was scheduled, I went for a 14 mile run yesterday. And my main focus was to maintain my recently increased cadence and to increase stride length (SL). It was a perfect day to add a significant amount of miles as the temperature recently dropped significantly due to the rain storm that we had a couple of days ago, so, I couldn’t think of any better place to finish this run other than at the Venice Beach Pier.
