Fartlek had to come in the picture.

When I decided to work with the new training program, I was quite excited about the new challenges and the new possibilities.

But my right foot injury occurred. Since then, I’ve been anxiously waiting for the plantar fasciitis to lapse. Although it is mild, and as much as I want to get the training started, I didn’t want to take a chance. So, I haven’t even walked to work like I did before when my left foot in a worse shape. Another Injury. Another Setback.

This rather came as a surprise. Although I knew it was there, I didn’t think that it would become an injury that ended up sidelining me. Again. It was the inflammation of the plantar fascia, which caused a bit of heel pain. At least, it is minor, and I know how to remedy this.

Back to Basics

After the (literally) painful result at the Surf City Marathon, even during a whole week of resting (as in no training whatsoever), my mind was quite restless. While part of me anxiously wanted to get back into training by the end of the past week, in terms of choosing a race to run, my thoughts were all over the place. However, I knew I wanted to choose a race that would give me at least a couple of months of time to train (and hopefully it is enough time for my inured left knee to heal, although I do not believe that the pain would persist after the initial inflammation that now has completely subsided). At first, the SLO (San Luis Obispo) Marathon on April 26 and the OC Marathon on May 3 caught my eye.

Painful Surf City Marathon

Today was supposed to be the day when I put all my training to the test at the Surf City Marathon. Today was supposed to be the day when I would find out if I was fast enough to qualify for the Boston Marathon. And everything went as planned. Until the last minute when the race began, that is. Tapering before Surf City Marathon

Since my last longest run before the Surf City Marathon last Monday, I’ve been taking it easy, running only up to 9 miles for long runs this week. Actually, I planned to run another 17 miler yesterday (Sunday) but ended up running only just under 9 miles. I had gone to the gym the day before and because it had been close to a week since last time I went in, my upper body was quite sore. I could tell my body didn’t recover from it at all. Read More…

Last Farthest Run on MLK Before Surf City Marathon

Today was the last longest run day before the Surf City Marathon. I got up early this morning to simulate the process of getting ready for the race, which is less than 2 weeks away.
